Early Intervention Program
The Tri-City Early Intervention Program serves young children and their families who reside in Everett, Malden and Medford. The program evaluates and serves infants and children up to three years of age who are developmentally delayed, disabled or at risk due to premature birth, neonatal problems or environmental concerns.
Our Approach
Our family-focused approach enables parents to play an active role in their child’s treatment. The program helps parents to recognize and understand their child's particular developmental needs, and suggests ways to help their child grow. We provide comprehensive assessment and treatment designed to provide maximum skill acquisition and facilitate accelerated growth in cognitive, motor, and behavioral competence.
Eligibility
Children are eligible for the program if they:
- were born prematurely
- have feeding, vision, or hearing problems
- are slow to sit, stand, walk, or talk
- were born with a disability or health condition
Staff and Care
Our staff includes developmental specialists, social workers, psychologists, physical, occupational and speech therapists and nurses. Services are provided at the program, in the child's home, and in other community settings.
Referrals and Insurance
Referrals can be made by families, obstetricians, pediatricians, other health care providers, insurers, and community agencies. An assessment will be scheduled to determine a child’s eligibility. Early Intervention services are paid for by insurance companies with the Department of Public Health as the payer of last resort.
