Residential and Community Support Services
Our Approach
- Eliot promotes the vision that an individual’s home is defined primarily by the individuals who live there and that policies, practices and expectations must respect and support a person’s culture, ethnicity, chosen lifestyle, affiliations, and activities.
- Eliot believes that each person’s unique capacities, gifts and talents should be celebrated in their home and community; and this belief is incorporated into how our programs are designed and implemented.
- Our programs are also committed to creating, strengthening, and sustaining relationships with chosen family members, friends, acquaintances and significant others.
We promote additional family involvement through our Residential Advisory Board. The board meets quarterly with program managers and senior staff. They are involved in the development of consumer satisfaction surveys as well as monitoring of quality at our residential homes. Monitoring visits occur six times a year at each home and the reports are shared with the full board and staff.
Our Services
Residential Programs
With six group homes, our residential network serves individuals with a range of needs. A hallmark of our network is the attractive, clean and well appointed homes in neighborhood settings. An array of leisure and social activities, nutrition and exercise consultation, and support groups are available to all individuals. One group home serves individuals with traumatic brain injury.
Community Supports
We currently provide community supports for men and women in the communities of Arlington, Medford, Dedham and Bedford. Our programs subscribe to the belief that every person must have the opportunity to live and work in the community of their choice, to promote their maximum level of independence. Program staff works in partnership with community organizations to build positive and comprehensive support networks and create opportunities for individuals to grow to their fullest potential.
Our program also works with families in surrounding communities, providing them with supports to care for their loved ones at home. Several host families provide individuals’ with a family-like environment to enhance and enrich their lives when they do not have family to assist them. Staff provides family support and opportunities for individuals to enrich their lives, develop personal skills and competencies. Supports provided are based on individual preferences, emphasizing self-determination and individual control. A full range of community activities is offered to foster the development of a strong social network of caring relationships.
