Elder Services

Our Ombudsman Program assists residents of licensed nursing facilities and rest homes by providing:

  • Information and referral to residents, their families and facility staff.
  • Complaint investigation and resolution.
  • Advocacy and support to residents regarding quality of care and their rights under state and federal law.

Ombudsmen are volunteers from diverse backgrounds who visit residents who live in long term care facilities. When a resident, family member or friend expresses a concern, the Ombudsman works with the resident and facility staff to resolve the issue.

Our Volunteers

Our Ombudsman volunteers provide weekly visits to elderly residents of twenty-one area nursing homes in the Metro-Boston region. Volunteer advocates visit with residents weekly, to ensure that their needs are being met and if necessary, advocate on their behalf to remediate any concerns or issues that residents may have. All volunteers receive training and certification through the Massachusetts Long Term Care Ombudsman Office.

The Ombudsman Program which is contracted through Minuteman Senior Services is mandated by state and federal law. It is funded and certified by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
