Mental Health Day Services
Clubhouse Programs
Eliot currently operates two full service clubhouse programs for adults with mental illness. Each program serves approximately 75 individuals on a daily basis. The programs are designed based on the Clubhouse model developed by the highly successful Fountain House Program in New Your City and are fully accredited/certified clubhouse communities through the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD), which endorses the philosophy of the Fountain House model. The programs provide a restorative environment where members have a significant role in the operations and governance of the program, while receiving support and assistance in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment, educational placement and stable housing as well as opportunities for social networking and participation in social activities.
Vocational / Day Services
The Young Adult Vocational Program (YAVP) is a comprehensive vocational, prevocational and educational skill building program for transition age youth with psychiatric disabilities, between the ages of 16 and 26 in the Metro West area. The program serves up to 20 individuals each day and uses a holistic model to support young adults in their efforts to attend school or to prepare for and enter the workforce. Recognizing the compounded effect of dealing with a mental illness, transitioning from adolescence to adulthood and striving to become a productive member of the community, the program has created a service delivery system which integrates skill building with therapeutic and personal growth components. "Peer Mentors" are also an integral part of the program and provide outreach and support to members as well as other young adults in the community.

Prior to joining the Elm Brook Place Clubhouse, my time was spent at home ruminating over negative aspects of my life. I felt hopeless and withdrawn from the world outside. Once becoming a member of Elm Brook Place, my self-esteem and confidence grew as I was accepted and supported by both members and staff.
Now I am strong enough to tackle a part-time job with their encouragement and will eventually strive to return to a 40 hour work week.
