Winter Walk 2026 had a few things working against it before it even started — a rescheduled date after a snowstorm, overcast skies, and the generally unpredictable weather of Boston in March. But none of that slowed us down.
This year marked a significant milestone: Eliot participated not just as a team of walkers, but as an official operational partner of Winter Walk Boston. That meant a tent, a presence, and an opportunity. Our team made the most of it. Throughout the event, curious walkers stopped by to learn about our work, connect with our staff, and hear firsthand about the difference Eliot’s Homeless Services Division makes every day across Massachusetts.
“I could feel the enthusiasm of the participants and the solidarity amongst us,” said Andréanne, a member of our Homelessness team who walked this year. That energy showed up in more ways than one — in conversations at the tent, in the community connections made with partner organizations, and in the simple act of showing up together to end stigma.
And the numbers back it up: our team has raised $6,905. Every dollar goes directly toward supporting Eliot homelessness programs and services, and providing vital supplies to clients across the state. These are the kind of flexible resources that, as Andréanne put it, can sometimes make the difference in a client’s trajectory. “The smallest thing can make a huge difference.”
Winter Walk is also a reminder of something bigger. “I hope more people understand — and feel — that we are all part of one community,” Andréanne shared. “Our unhoused neighbors are our neighbors, and showing up for them is truly fulfilling.”
Thank you to everyone who fundraised, recruited walkers, and showed up in many capacities. This is Eliot doing what it does best: turning out for the people who need us most.
